Drop ship guide

Dropping units on mineral lines is an fine art to most Protoss players.  Reavers and High Templar both have the ability to kill workers before the other player can even respond, thus quickly shifting the balance and garnering props from most Starcraft players. However in Starcraft II we are missing a few units. The Shuttle and Reaver have been removed and in their place we get the Warp Prism and Colossus. Now many new players may be confused about how the Warp Prism works, I know this was the case for me because I thought that warping was the new drop mechanic for Protoss. However this is far from the case as Warp Prisms can carry units as well as warp them in. However it can only carry a single Colossus, so get used to building them in pairs if your trying to recreate some nostalgia.

The question that you maybe thinking is why would I ever drop when I could warp in? Well keep in mind that only units from a Warp Gate can be warped. Here is a quick list.

Guide to thelittleone's build in his ro4 game#2 match

TeamLiquid Invitational, Ro4 - TheLittleOne vs Nazgul Game #2 on Metalopolis.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, go download and watch this SC2 replay, it's really worth it. It is one of the best SC2 games I've witnessed so far (really, I want to vote for it as a Replay of the Week). TheLittleOne is a very creative and unorthodox random player, and Nazgul is a very solid Protoss player.

This Guide outlines TLO's build, and how you can use its unorthodox style to try and catch a Protoss off guard.

A brief synopsis of the game: TLO opened relatively standard, from the point of Nazgul's scouting probe. However, he used Reapers early on to harass the Protoss, utilizing the many entry points for Reapers on Metalopolis. From there, he used tanks and marines, with a few marauders, to turtle in his base. With the close 3rd base, TLO was able to successfully turtle, with Nazgul wisely opting to match expansions. TLO, as turtley as he was, did not sit idly by.

ghost

At 150/150, EMP already in hand, the Ghost proved to be a great defence and harass unit.

Brilliantly using ghosts+nukes, with the occasional Reaper run-by, TLO kept Nazgul busy at his expansions, trying his very best to keep him on equal bases. Off three bases, TLO transitioned into 2port Battlecruisers, and with the help of a few ghosts+nukes, was able to do more damage at each expansion. TLO was even ballsy enough to take a 4th.  Nazgul, not your average Protoss, smartly chose to mass Void Rays as an answer, able to dwindle down the Battlecruiser count. In a very jaw-biting, fist-clenching late game, TLO was able to pull ahead with more mining bases and units to force Nazgul to tap out.

Guide detailing Zerg upgrades vs Terran

By a 6 year SC1 Veteran

Hi there, it's me again. As promised, here is my write-up about Zerg ground upgrades vs Terran.

If you haven't actually read the ZvP upgrades, I strongly suggest you to do so now.  Just look through the Guides section.  Just like last time, I am going to leave out the heavy number crunching, as it really isn't the important "take home" message I am trying to convey. As usual, I've highlighted the numbers, but I do suggest you read through the entire article.

I've noticed in some of the games I've watched, the Zerg sometimes gets Level 1 missile attack before Level 1 Carapace against the Terran.  In this write-up, I will try and explain the details of upgrading, and hopefully by the end I will have convinced you of the best method to go about upgrading.

Starcraft 2 general guide

5 / 5 starstarstarstarstar ( 2 votes )

This guide is a combination of various tips and strategies I learned from watching tons of replays online. Unfortunately, I do not have a beta key, but from watching the replays I have analysed some things better players do and some things rookies do that hurts them. As I compile more information, I will improve organization and add in more tips and media. This is the 1.0 version.

Rush/Cheese

This is a type of strategy. It means making units very early on instead of investing and focusing on an economy and making a large army to thwart your opponent. Your aim in this is to catch your opponent off guard with your very early attack and then cripple or defeat your opponent this way to give you the edge over the mid-game.

Terran vs Terran

Take into consideration

  • Map
  • Map size
  • Your ranking
  • Your opponents ranking
  • What i mean by ranking is if your favored, or is your opponent is favored

! Notes on maps

  1.  Rarely attempt to all in on kulas ravine, or desert oasis.
  2. On any other map as terran an " all in " build can be very strong and can win you most games, or put you into a very safe situation
  3. Example : 2barracks with physics addon for marauders + 1 barracks with reactor for dual marine, this build can win alot of games on maps with breakable rocks. (rocks blocking path's) for example, Scrap station , Blistering sands

The reason I say safe situation is because if you 3rax and pump alot, in TvZ or TvP it will put your opponent in a situation to have to not be aggressive, so where you were just doing an all in build you can transition this into a ' fast expand ' build which wouldn't be really considered too fast, but still you will be expanding faster than your opponent due to the fact that he is waiting for you to attempt an all in.
