How do I gain experience?
- By posting insightful comments
- By uploading good replays
- By writing useful guides
Comments
A comment becomes insightful when it has 2+ positive votes: You gain 1 XP
A comment becomes very insightful when it has 10+ positive votes: You gain 2 XP
Replays
The amount of experience given for uploading a replay depends on the replay's rating and the amount of votes.
For example, a replay with a rating of 5/5 but with just one vote will give less XP than a replay with an average rating of 3.5/5 and 30 votes.
Minimum experience given for a replay: 0 XP
Maximum experience given for a replay: 30 XP
Note: The maximum experience awarded is quite difficult to attain, because you need a lot of votes and a very high rating. It's simple though, just upload very good replays and you can be sure to get a nice amount of XP. Quality will speak for itself.
Guides
The amount of experience given for writing a guide depends on the guide's rating and the amount of votes.
For example, a guide with a rating of 5/5 but with just one vote will give less XP than a guide with an average rating of 3.5/5 and 30 votes.
Minimum experience given for a replay: 0 XP
Maximum experience given for a replay: 50 XP
Note: Writing a guide takes more time and effort than uploading a replay, thus the higher XP reward. Once again, only high quality and useful guides will bring you a lot of XP.
Tips to gain experience
* Make an effort with your spelling. Nobody likes to read broken english, with no punctuation, no caps.
* Avoid "d00d" speech. "u", "ur", "ure", "thx" is just irritating to many readers. Just spell the words, it's not that hard to spell 1 or 2 extra letters. You, you're, your, thanks.
* Don't waste other people's time. Before you ask a question, look if that question has already been answered. So please, before you ask a question, use the search function.
* Don't try to earn XP by writing quick, low-quality, useless guides. You'll be wasting your time. Take the time to write something useful and polished, and you'll see how easy it can be to gain XP.
* Upload cool replays. It doesn't have to always be replays from pro gamers. It can also be replays of fun games, or of games which show unusual strategies, or games with surprising comebacks.
Simply put: Post insightful comments, informative guides, good replays, try to be helpful to the community, and you'll become a high ranked member in no time.
Rewards
What else do I get besides cool shiny avatars?
There will be many priviledges for the higher ranks in the futures, and even some cool gifts, such as SC2 beta keys and other beta keys for future blizzard products. For now, you get to unlock super cool Avatars, you gain Shields and you can compete in the Starcraft Replay Rankings.
Shields
Shields are special awards given to the user whenever one of his guides or replays reaches a certain status. These shields will appear next to the user's avatar everywhere he posts.
Each Shield will also be a direct link to the guide or replay which got the shield, thus allowing users to find some quality replays and guides from other users while simply reading comments.
Copper Shield: Whenever a replay or guide reaches 20 votes, if the average rating is 4/5 or higher, the author will be awarded with a Copper Shield.
Silver Shield: Whenever a replay or guide reaches 50 votes, if the average rating is 4/5 or higher, the author will be awarded with a Silver Shield.
Gold Shield: Whenever a replay or guide reaches 100 votes, if the average rating is 4/5 or higher, the author will be awarded with a Gold Shield.
Platinum Shield: Whenever a replay or guide reaches 200 votes, if the average rating is 4/5 or higher, the author will be awarded with a Platinum Shield.
